If you or a family member contract the measles, there is not much that can be done other than letting the virus run its course and providing supportive care for the symptoms. This supportive care might include treatments such as getting plenty of rest and drinking plenty of fluids. Over-the-counter medication can be used to reduce pain and discomfort, and medication may be suggested if the cough is severe.
